Boston, MA—December 17, 2025 — CRICO’s Board undergoes a transition after more than a decade of leadership by Dr. Jim Mandell.

Jim MandellIn April, Dr. James Mandell, Professor at Harvard Medical School and former CEO of Boston Children’s Hospital, communicated his intention to step down as Board Member and Chair of the CRICO Board of Directors at the conclusion of this year. Dr. Mandell, widely regarded as a dedicated and effective leader, joined the CRICO Board in 2000 and has served as board chair since January 2014.

CRICO CEO Mark E. Reynolds commented, “During Jim’s tenure as board chair, he has strengthened governance, advanced our strategic vision, and reinforced CRICO’s commitment to protecting providers and promoting safety across the Harvard medical community.”

Throughout his service, Dr. Mandell championed collaboration among member institutions, guided the Board through a period of organizational transition, and helped shape initiatives that enhanced both operational and financial resilience. His solid leadership, clinical expertise, and consistent advocacy for CRICO’s mission have made a significant and enduring impact on the organization and its affiliated institutions. Tom Hollister, Incoming Chair

Tom HollisterThe CRICO Board welcomes Tom Hollister as his successor. Mr. Hollister currently chairs CRICO’s Investment Committee and previously represented Harvard University on the CRICO Board while holding the role of the university’s Chief Financial Officer from 2015 until his retirement in 2023. Now retired, he will continue to serve as an independent director. Mr. Hollister has also served on the board of Brookline Bancorp, as Vice Chairman and Bank President of Citizens Financial Group, and as an Executive Vice President at Bank of Boston.

As incoming board chair, Mr. Hollister brings extensive financial leadership experience, a strategic acumen, and a thorough understanding of academic and health care environments. His longstanding involvement with CRICO positions him to effectively guide the Board’s ongoing efforts in the coming years and support the organization’s mission. Mr. Hollister will officially assume the role of chair on January 1, 2026.
